MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202431035317 A) filed by Dr. Dilip Gahankari, Queensland, Australia, on May 3, 2024, for 'surgical multipurpose support device for 'non-touch' manipulation activity for implants and prosthesis as well as dissection of tissue planes..'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Dilip Gahankari.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A surgical multi purpose support device suitable selectively for 'non-touch' manipulation activity for implants and prosthesis as well as dissection of tissue planes avoiding tissue injury in body cavities in surgical procedures and the like. The multipurpose device includes a manipulator end (3) shaped free of any sharp peripheral edges and with a blunt tip (3C) at the front adapted for entry within said body cavity and providing a carrier support for the manipulating activity including adjusting said implant or device in position with respect to any surgical region of interest as well as dissection procedures. An extended shaft (4) operatively connects the manipulator end portion for manipulate externally away from said region of interest in said cavity during surgery. The device is directed to favour non-touch surgical procedures such as to adjust the position of surgical prosthesis in implant cavity appropriate to the procedure and adjust the implant cavity to the surgical prosthesis. It would serve for more safety in surgical procedures, avoiding unwanted touch and related contaminations and complexities and can be used for various other surgical procedures such as manipulation of the breast prosthesis or adjustment of the breast cavity by "non-touch" technique as well in general surgery, urological surgery, gynaecological surgery, endoscopic assisted surgery, etc."
