MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517094537 A) filed by Guilin Gfs Monk Fruit Corporation, Guangxi, China, on Oct. 1, for 'sweetness composition and preparation method thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Li, Jian; Zhu, Xuehua; Huang, Lingyu; Tan, Tailiang; Xu, Bo; Lan, Feisi; Li, Xingyu; and Liang, Zhenhua.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A sweetness composition, based on the total weight of the sweetness composition, comprising: 70% to 85% of mogroside V; 5% to 12% of 11-O-mogroside V; 0 to 0.5% of simonoside I; 0 to 0.05% of mogroside II and mogroside III; 0 to 0.5% of protein; and 0 to 0.5% of total sugar. Also disclosed is a method for preparing the sweetness composition, comprising the following steps: extracting Siraitia grosvenorii to obtain an extract; clarifying the extract to obtain a clarified liquid; sequentially treating the clarified liquid with a strong acid cation exchange resin column and a weak alkaline anion exchange resin column to obtain an ion exchange treated liquid; and the ion exchange treated liquid entering an adsorption resin column combination for multi-stage adsorption separation and elution, collecting the eluate, and drying to obtain the sweetness composition, wherein, the ion exchange treatment step needs to be performed before the multi-stage adsorption separation step."
