MUMBAI, India, Dec. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311038015 A) filed by Army Design Bureau, New Delhi, on June 1, 2023, for 'syringe needle-cap miniexternal fixator for intracondylar phalangeal fractures.'

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 6, under issue no. 49/2024.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Comminuted intra-articular/intra-condylar phalanx fractures are complicated injuries often treated with external fixation. The present invention discloses an external fixator device (10) which is made up of thermoplastic material. It is a universal size thermoplastic external splint (10) which supports the shape of a patient's finger of the hand (20). It supports the finger from both the sides (5A, 5B) and includes multiple holes (3) on the sides (5A, 5B) for attachment with patient's finger using multiple k-wires. The present curved-shape external fixator (10) supports the shape of a patient's finger from the sides (5A, 5B), upper (1) and lower area (2). The maximum portion external fixator (10) on the front and back side is left open for the inspection of wound, if any. The present invention is an excellent mini-external fixator because they are radiolucent, easily manufactured, inexpensive, simple, safe, and easy to use."
