MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311087872 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 21, 2023, for 'system and device for automated pull-out and set-in of a spare wheel of a vehicle.'

Inventor(s) include Balaji Srinivasan; Shreeharsha Subbakrishna; and Shreyas Sujeendra Kashyap.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system (100) and a device (100') for an automated pull-out and set-in of a spare wheel (110) of a vehicle comprises a stack of plates (120) including a lower plate (122), an intermediate plate (124) and an upper plate (126), and a controller in communication with a lifting mechanism (140), a first sliding mechanism (150), a tilting mechanism (160) and a second sliding mechanism (170) operatively coupled with the stack of plates (120). The controller can: lift, the stack of plates (120) from a rested position; slide, the intermediate plate (124) relative to the lower plate (122); tilt, the intermediate plate (124) relative to the lower plate (122); and slide, the upper plate (126) relative to the intermediate plate (124) such that the spare wheel (110) is at a pre-set convenient height from the ground surface allowing an easy access."
