MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511123793 A) filed by Niit University; and Vikas Upadhyaya, Neemrana, Rajasthan, on Dec. 8, 2025, for 'system and method for automated detection of geometric shapes and actuator-based drilling on mesh images.'
Inventor(s) include Neha Tiwari; Sanjay Gupta; Yash Tiwari; Yuvraj Singh Shekhawat; and Yash Upadhyay.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The system (100) enables automated detection of geometric shapes and actuator-based drilling on surgical mesh images. It includes a preprocessor (102) that loads the input image and applies necessary preprocessing operations. A processor (104) receives the pre-processed image and computes mean intensity values, performs adaptive and manual thresholding, and identifies contours corresponding to circular or rhombus-shaped features. The processor (104) further calculates centroid locations using raw moment analysis, determines displacement parameters describing the relative positioning of the detected shapes, and generates an actuation signal based on these parameters. An actuator (106) receives the actuation signal and drives a robotic arm to perform precise drilling at the computed centroid locations."
