MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521061586 A) filed by Puddukarai Srinivasan Ramachandran, Thane, Maharashtra, on June 27, for 'system and method for continuous filtration, backwash cleaning, and liquid thickening.'
Inventor(s) include Puddukarai Srinivasan Ramachandran.
The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention provides a self-cleaning, continuous filtration system using a modified candle filter and a dual-compartment sump tank (15) for simultaneous filtration, backwash cleaning, and liquid thickening. The system enables uninterrupted operation by performing backwash row-by-row using 5 timer-controlled high-pressure liquid or compressed air, while filtration continues through the remaining filter headers and candles. A portion (10-15%) of unfiltered liquid is recirculated, aiding in removal and return of dislodged solids during back wash operation to the sump tank for progressive thickening. The system reuses part of the filtrate for backwash, eliminating the need for external clean liquid. This design removes the requirement for auxiliary pumps, duplicate filters, or additional piping 10 and valves, resulting in a compact, energy-efficient, and low-maintenance solution ideal for industrial water and effluent treatment, especially where input liquid thickening is required."
