MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441038595 A) filed by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Gyeonggi, Republic of Korea, on May 16, 2024, for 'system and method for determining health and abuse of a battery in an electronic device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure discloses system and method for determining a state of a battery in an electronic device. The method recites obtaining operational data of the battery from a battery management unit and decomposing the operational data obtained from the battery management unit into at least a shape signal and a shift signal. The method further comprises estimating state of health of the battery using the shift signal and an extent of abuse of the battery using the shape signal. Lastly, the method recites determining the state of battery based on the state of health and the extent of abuse."
