MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311082851 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 5, 2023, for 'system and method for monitoring a human face by merging synthetic and real face landmarks.'

Inventor(s) include Midhun Vayyat; Rahul Tallamraju; and Shuaib Ahmed.

The application for the patent was published on June 6, under issue no. 23/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a system and a method for monitoring a human face. At 302, a face segmentation map is formed, at 304, face counters are drawn on the face segmentation map. At 306, inner edges are eliminated from the face counters, and then, at 308, landmarks are projected onto the face counter. Further, at 310, it involves deriving a principal line connecting the forehead and chin point. At 312, a line connecting eye corners is found and is further recursively split to get three equally spaced points on the line. Further, at 314, lines are drawn through the equally spaced points, and hence, at 316, the points joining the face contours and the lines provide new key points. At 318, midpoints for every pair of eye landmarks are found. At 320, lines are drawn through midpoints parallel to the principal line to provide new key points, at 322."
