MUMBAI, India, Jan. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511104011 A) filed by Guru Kashi University, Bathinda, Punjab, on Oct. 28, 2025, for 'system and method for multi-sensory insect trapping and automated baling.'

Inventor(s) include Mr. Bablu Singh; Dr. Dinesh Kumar; Mrs. Veerpal Kaur; Mr. Yashpal Kumar; and Dr. Arvinder Singh Channi.

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed system (100) for multi-sensory insect trapping and automated baling comprises a housing (102) defining an insect ingress region, at least one attractant unit (104) configured to emit at least one sensory cue to attract target insects towards the insect ingress region, a helical funnel (106) defining a converging spiral passage extending from an inlet end to a throat end, an airflow generator (108) to propel attracted insects along the converging spiral passage toward the throat end, and a collection chamber (110) to receive insects propelled through the helical funnel (106). The system (100) further comprises a piston (112) to compress insects accumulated in the collection chamber (110) into a dry bale suitable for disposal. Furthermore, the system (100) comprises a control unit (112) operatively coupled to the at least one attractant unit (104), the airflow generator (108), and the piston (112)."
