MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541124799 A) filed by Daimler Truck Ag, Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany, on Dec. 10, 2025, for 'system and method for predicting a failure of a diesel exhaust fluid (def) pump in a vehicle.'
Inventor(s) include Kunal Bhowmick; Alok Pathak; Sagarnil Bose; Kaunakar Soloman Raju NS; Rupesh Ghule; Sreejithkumar Ravikumar; and Dilip Kasukhela.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed herein are a method and a system (140) for predicting failure of a DEF pump in a vehicle (130). The method comprises obtaining telematics data (120) associated with a plurality of signals corresponding to a plurality of parameters related to the vehicle (130). The method further comprises obtaining historical data (122, 124) associated with faults and repairs of the DEF pump. The method further comprises predicting, at a current time instance, using a failure prediction model (126), a likelihood of a failure of the DEF pump within a predefined time window from the current time instance, based on the telematics data (120) and the historical data (122, 124). The method further comprises communicating the prediction associated with the likelihood of the failure of the DEF pump to a fleet management system (602) for generating one or more actionable outcomes (612) with respect to the vehicle (130)."
