MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511061946 A) filed by IIMT College Of Engineering, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on June 28, for 'system and method for python based nmap scanning for open port detection.'

Inventor(s) include Mr. Gaurav Kumar; Mr. Deepesh Kumar; and Dr. Naveen Prakash.

The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The Python-based Nmap scanner is a tool designed to detect open ports on devices connected to a network. It features a command-line interface where users can input the target device's IP address to initiate the scan. The scanner uses Python libraries to carry out the port scanning process, automating the identification of open, closed, or filtered ports. This system simplifies the process of scanning by automatically determining the status of each port without manual intervention. Additionally, the tool includes a mechanism to display the results in real time, ensuring users can view the status of the ports as they are being scanned. This combination of automation and real-time reporting makes the Python-based Nmap scanner an efficient and user-friendly tool for network security and assessment."
