MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521121255 A) filed by Merai Newage Private Limited, Vapi, Gujarat, on Dec. 3, 2025, for 'system and method for real-time surgical instrument activity tracking and visual alerting mechanism.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "System (200A) for real-time tracking of surgical instrument (140) movements and generating alerts includes surgical instruments (140) with instrument tips (424A, 430B) wherein at least one comprises endoscope with stereo camera (202A), camera control unit (204A) communicably connected to stereo camera, object detection and tracking module (206A) communicably connected to camera control unit configured to track objects in real-time, and surgical console (130) comprising display unit (214B), user control interface (208B) and processor (212B) communicably connected to camera control unit. Camera control unit receives image data comprising frames of field of view from stereo camera, displays image data on screen (402) divided into segments (710, 712, 714, 716, 718, 720, 722, 724, 726, 728, 730, 732) along edges (404A, 404B, 404C, 404D), tracks instrument tips using object detection and tracking module (206A), determines boundary violations when tips contact edges, and displays visual warning patterns on edges based on boundary violations."
