Inventor(s) include Shubham Mawa; Saunak Chatterjee; Vasudev Singh; Saurav Gupta; Shuaib Ahmed; and Barani Gomattam.

The application for the patent was published on June 6, under issue no. 23/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure pertains to a system (100) to recognize the movement and action of occupants in a vehicle. The system (100) comprises a processing device (104) configured to capture, using an image acquisition unit (102), images of occupants within the vehicle. The processing device (104) further detects 2D joints associated with each occupant and correspondingly determines coordinates of the detected 2D joints in the images to define a skeletal structure of the occupants, and further estimates the coarse depth of each pixel in the images. Further, the processing device (104) estimates coarse 3D coordinates of the detected joints based on the determined coordinates and the estimated coarse depth to determine a spatio-temporal pose of the occupants, and correspondingly recognize the movement and action performed by the corresponding occupants."
