MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411030512 A) filed by Amity University, Manesar, Haryana, on April 16, 2024, for 'system and method for sustainable alcohol production using solar energy.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention describes a system and method for sustainable alcohol production using solar energy. A novel system and method for producing alcohol from fermented agricultural waste using solar energy. The innovation aims to reduce air pollution associated with conventional fossil fuel-based distillation processes, increase the purity of the produced alcohol, and efficiently utilize agricultural waste, particularly from apple and dry fruit production in regions such as Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir, and Uttarakhand. The system incorporates solar panels, a battery, an inverter, an Electronic Control Unit (ECU), a heating mantle, a Clevenger apparatus, and a water recycling mechanism to achieve efficient and eco-friendly alcohol distillation."
