MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511123922 A) filed by Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Dec. 9, 2025, for 'system for automated detection and classification of breast tumors from histopathological images.'

Inventor(s) include Dr Anuradha Taluja; Niharika Aggarwal; and Priyanka Verma.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure discloses a system for automated detection and classification of breast tumors from histopathological images, comprising a microscope-mounted imaging device arranged to capture at least one histopathological image derived from a breast tissue specimen of a patient; a server configured to acquire image data captured by said microscope-mounted imaging device; apply preprocessing operations comprising normalization, resizing, noise reduction, and contrast conditioning upon acquired image data to generate standardized image data suitable for computational evaluation; extract morphological features from said standardized image data through a convolutional neural network architecture arranged to operate with transfer-learning parameters; generate a tumor-classification output mapped to predetermined tumor classes comprising benign and malignant categories; produce region-highlighting overlays derived from activation mapping performed within said convolutional neural network architecture to indicate spatial locations associated with tumor-related characteristics within said histopathological images; and a display unit arranged to present said tumor-classification output and said region-highlighting overlays for diagnostic review."
