MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311082850 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 5, 2023, for 'system for improving cooling efficiency of a battery of an electric vehicle.'

Inventor(s) include Pritam Desai; Veerabhadra Basapuri; and Satish Prabhakaran.

The application for the patent was published on June 6, under issue no. 23/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed is a system (100) for cooling one or more batteries (252) of a vehicle. The system (100) comprises a refrigeration apparatus (200) configured to circulate a coolant flowing in a plurality of coolant pipes (102) disposed in vicinity of the one or more batteries (252), and a water reservoir (110) configured to receive water supplied to a hood (106) of the vehicle, the water reservoir (110) accommodating at least one coolant pipe (114) of the plurality of coolant pipes (102) to reduce a temperature of the coolant passing therethrough. The system (100) efficiently augments dissipation of heat generated during operation of the batteries (252) powering the vehicle."
