MUMBAI, India, Jan. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511102319 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 24, 2025, for 'system for proactive road repair and maintenance.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system for proactive road repair and maintenance, comprising a plurality of Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled sensors embedded in or along road corridors configured to collect real-time data on surface cracks, potholes, drainage obstructions, and traffic volume, a preprocessing module for noise reduction and feature extraction of the collected data, a machine learning analysis module employing supervised learning protocols and protocols such as k-Nearest Neighbors (k-NN) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) for classification and prediction of road deterioration, a data transmission module using Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol through HiveMQ to transmit processed and analyzed data from the sensors as publishers to a remote maintenance agency as subscribers, and a decision-support interface to generate actionable maintenance schedules and prioritization based on predictive analytics, enabling real-time monitoring, preventive maintenance, reduced site inspections, optimized scheduling, and improved efficiency in urban infrastructure management."
