MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311086059 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 16, 2023, for 'system for providing differential updates to satellite electronic control units in vehicles and method thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system (100) and a method (300) for providing one or more differential updates to a plurality of satellite electronic control units (hereafter, ECUs) (102) in a vehicle are disclosed. The system (100) comprises a vehicle infotainment system (104) and a central ECU (106) in communication with the plurality of satellite ECUs (102) and the vehicle infotainment system (104). The central ECU (106) can: receive, from a content delivery network (108), a differential update data for one or more satellite ECUs among the plurality of satellite ECUs (102); identify, at an update agent (110), the one or more satellite ECUs corresponding to the received differential update data; apply, using the update agent (110), the differential update data in a temporary memory of the central ECU (106); and initiate, using the update agent (110), an update for the one or more satellite ECUs."
