MUMBAI, India, May 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517043874 A) filed by Op Solutions, Llc, Amherst, U.S.A., on May 6, for 'systems and methods for region packing based encoding and decoding.'

Inventor(s) include Adzic, Velibor; Furht, Borivoje; and Kalva, Hari.

The application for the patent was published on May 30, under issue no. 22/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Systems and methods for video coding and decoding using region packing are provided. At an encoder, an encoded bitstream is generated having packed frames with a plurality of regions of interest therein. At least a portion of the region parameters to reconstruct the packed frame are encoded as Supplemental Enhancement Information. At the decoder, the encoded bitstream is decoded and parameters sufficient to place the regions within a reconstructed frame are extracted, including parameters extracted from Supplemental Enhancement Information. A reconstructed frame is generated which substantially maintains the spatial relationship and size of regions of interest in the original video frame."

The patent application was internationally filed on Oct. 17, 2023, under International application No.PCT/US2023/035269.
