MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517050720 A) filed by Nippon Steel Corporation, Tokyo, on May 27, for 'tailored blank, press-molded article, method for producing tailored blank, and method for producing press-molded article.'
Inventor(s) include Tatsumi Yujiro; Okada Tohru; and Fujimoto Hiroki.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This tailored blank comprises a first steel plate, a second steel plate which is butt welded with the first steel plate, and weld metal connecting an end section of the first steel plate and an end section of the second steel plate. The plate thickness h1 and the carbon concentration C1 of the first steel plate and the plate thickness h2 and the carbon concentration C2 of the second steel plate satisfy a predetermined formula, a step LDa between an A surface S1A of the first steel plate and an A surface S2A of the second steel plate and a step LDb between a B surface S1B of the first steel plate and a B surface S2B of the second steel plate satisfy a predetermined formula, the first steel plate has an aluminum-based plating layer on the A surface S1A thereof, the aluminum-based plating layer disposed on the A surface S1A of the first steel plate is in contact with the weld metal, the first steel plate has an exposed base material section on the B surface S1B thereof, and the exposed base material section of the B surface S1B of the first steel plate is in contact with the weld metal."
