MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202321081437 A) filed by Ordnance Factory Ambarnath, Thane, Maharashtra, on Nov. 30, 2023, for 'taper die for 105 mm sheath cartridge case and method thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Rakesh Yerunkar; Rakshit Ghawat; and Dilip S. Nair.

The application for the patent was published on June 6, under issue no. 23/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a Taper Die is used to obtain the outer taper profile i.e., Ogee shape of the 105mm Sheath cartridge case. The taper die is designed in such a way that it consists of three parts viz. 1. First Taper Die (Top Piece) 2. Final Taper Die (Top Piece) 3. Final Taper Die (Bottom Piece) and are made of tool steel with hardness of 45 to 50 RC. The Taper Die is inserted into the Die Housing attached to the Ram of the hydraulic press."
