MUMBAI, India, June 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202414075350 A) filed by Nokia Technologies Oy, Espoo, Finland, on Oct. 4, 2024, for 'tethering in communications.'

Inventor(s) include Li, Zexian; Saeed, Umar; and Michalopoulos, Diomidis.

The application for the patent was published on June 20, under issue no. 25/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed is a method comprising establishing (202) a tethered link between a terminal device (100) and a tethered device (102), obtaining (203), 5 by the terminal device (100) from the tethered device (102) via said tethered link, one or more capabilities of the tethered device (102), and transmitting (204), from the terminal device (100) to an access node (104), a capability report indicating the one or more capabilities of the tethered device (102) to the access node (104). The access node (104) receives (205) from the terminal 10 device (100), the capability report indicating the one or more capabilities of the tethered device (102), wherein the access node (104) configures (206a, 206b, 206c) the tethered device (102) based on the reported one or more capabilities of the tethered device (102)."
