MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621009371 A) filed by Marwadi University, Rajkot, Gujarat, on Jan. 29, for 'theft-prevention wearable device.'
Inventor(s) include Elizabeth D Musimurimwa; and Prof. Reshma Sunil.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A theft-prevention wearable device, comprising a flexible wearable member 101, an imaging unit 102 to detect surrounding environment, a plurality of decorative element 103 with a pair of motorized rollers 104 to reposition the decorative element 103 along the length of the member 101, a plurality of oil diffusers to release a slippery fluid upon detection of excessive pulling force to reduce grip friction during a theft attempt, a plurality of inflatable protective patches 107 to rapidly inflate when a predefined safety threshold force is detected to provide cushioning and injury prevention, a disengagement means to disengage a portion of the wearable member 101 upon detection of excessive pulling force to prevent theft, and an alert module to generate haptic, visual, or wireless alerts to authorized individuals upon activation of any theft prevention."
