MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517046021 A) filed by Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software Co. Ltd., Beijing, on May 13, for 'timer starting method and apparatus.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed in the embodiments of the present disclosure are a timer starting method and apparatus, which can be applied to the technical field of communications. The method, which is executed by means of an Internet-of-Things terminal device, comprises: determining a starting moment of a DRX inactivity timer according to transmission time information and a first duration of a PDSCH, a PUSCH or a PDCCH; and starting the DRX inactivity timer at the starting moment. By means of the method, a starting moment of a DRX inactivity timer and a starting moment for monitoring a PDCCH are overlapped as much as possible, so that it is ensured that an Internet-of-Things terminal device can reliably monitor the PDCCH, thereby improving the reliability of an Internet-of-Things communication system."
