MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517048237 A) filed by Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software Co. Ltd., Beijing, on May 19, for 'timing advance (ta) measurement method and apparatus, communication device, and storage medium.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to the technical field of mobile communications, and provides a timing advance (TA) measurement method and apparatus, a communication device, and a storage medium. A UE may receive configuration information before the UE is handed over from a serving cell to a target cell, and measure a TA value of a candidate cell according to the configuration information. The present disclosure provides a solution for measuring TA values of candidate cells before cell handover of the UE, to obtain the TA value of each candidate cell for the UE in advance during TA management, thereby achieving rapid cell handover and reducing time overhead of handover."
