MUMBAI, India, May 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202321070263 A) filed by Vivekanand Education Society's College Of Pharmacy, Maharashtra, on Nov. 16, 2023, for 'topical formulations containing antifungal microsponges.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to anti-microbial and Anti-Fungal Topical Formulations. Particularly, the invention relates to topical formulations containing microsponges containing antifungal agent and at least one herbal synergist. Preferably, antifungal agent and the synergist are in separate microsponges but combined in the topical 10 gel formulation. More particularly, the invention relates to the combination of synthetic anti-microbial / antifungal drug and herbal drugs separately in a microsponge-based drug delivery system wherein the drug-loaded delivery system is further formulated as a topical formulation, preferably a gel formulation."
