MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517047521 A) filed by Beiersdorf Ag, Hamburg, Germany, on May 16, for 'topically applied preparation for improving skin condition.'

Inventor(s) include Heuer, Andrea; and Hupeden, Jennifer.

The application for the patent was published on June 6, under issue no. 23/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a topically applied preparation comprising a combination of substances including antimicrobial peptides (AMP), in particular cyclic peptide compounds based on the synthesis of thiazolidine and oxazolidine components, and skin-soothing substances such as menthoxypropanediol, substances to strengthen the skin barrier such as omega-6 fatty acids, and/or flavonoids such as licochalcone, which act synergetically and selectively against pathogenic bacteria, such as S. aureus and C. acnes, however not against skin-commensal bacteria, such as S. epidermidis. The preparations can be used advantageously for the treatment of acne or atopic dermatitis and to care for skin that has been damaged by acne or atopic dermatitis."

The patent application was internationally filed on Oct. 18, 2023, under International application No.PCT/EP2023/079024.
