MUMBAI, India, May 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202341080625 A) filed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bengaluru, Karnataka, on Nov. 28, 2023, for 'torque tightening tool set for aero engine assembly.'

Inventor(s) include Subhajit Ghosh; Vikas Sahu; Krishna C; Joseph Shibu K; and Amar Singh.

The application for the patent was published on May 30, under issue no. 22/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a torque tightening tool set for aero engine assembly. The rotor system [010] is arrested from front while applying torque using a set of tools eomprising of a pair of Arresting Tools [070], held together with Cover-Arresting Tool [080], a Holding Tool [100] and a Locking Tool [090] to apply desired torque' The said methodology avoids tilting of complete rotor system [010] with respect to casings [020], as well as eliminates the requirement of lifting the assembly [010 & 020] compared to - prevailing method of engaging locking tool to the bottom of the rotor system [010]. The design of bevel gear [050] is modified by introducing eight slots of 'T' shape [051] so as to enable arresting tool pair [070] to be assembled from sideway."
