Abstract: ABSTRACT TREATMENT OF PICKLING WASTE VIA HYDRODYNAMIC CAVITATION SYSTEM FOR CONTINUOUS PRODUCTION OF IRON OXIDE NANOPARTICLES AND THEREOF The present invention relates to a process for the treatment of acid pickling waste using Hydrodynamic Cavitation method and the synthesis of value-added product like iron oxide nanoparticles. In particular, the treatment of iron-containing waste from pickling acid involves sequential unit processes, filtration, neutralization, Cavitation-assisted coprecipitation, separation and heat treatment. In the first unit, neutralization and coprecipitation of iron species from acid pickling waste are carried out using alkaline reagents, with cavitation application to enhance nucleation and particle size control. In the second unit, the precipitated iron hydroxide undergoes oxidation and controlled growth, influenced by factors such as air flow rate and concentration of oxidizing agent addition with controlled pH, leading to iron oxide nanoparticle formation. In the third unit, separation techniques such as sedimentation and filtration are employed to recover synthesized iron oxide n' anoparticles, followed by drying and calcination to obtain a fine powder. The purpose of the present system and method to achieve controlled synthesis of Fe203 nanoparticles with tunable properties, high purity, and enhanced efficiency in a sustainable manner. Additionally, the process offers scalability for large-scale commercial production, reduces environmental impact, and enables the utilization of waste as a resource for advanced material applications.
