MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541060123 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on June 24, for 'tri-component bioactive gutta percha disinfecting solution.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Neha N; Dr. Manish Ranjan; and Deepak Nallaswamy Veeraiyan.

The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention introduces a unique disinfecting solution tOr gutta-percha cones, composed ofpropolis, chitosan, and curcumin. The fonnulation exhibits antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and biocompatible properties. Propolis provides broad-spcctmm antimicrobial action, chitosan ensures effective biofilm disruption and dentin bonding, and curcumin reduces inflammation while offering mild antibacterial effects. The solution could contribute to deep penetration into dentinal tubules, enhance scaler adhesion, and support remineralisation, contributing to successful root canal treatment and reduced post-operative pain."
