MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202518053523 A) filed by Poly-Med, Inc., Anderson, U.S.A., on June 2, for 'tubular implants with controlled biodegradation.'

Inventor(s) include Cartledge, Jennifer; Clinkscales, Kenneth, W.; Elvington, Elizabeth; Hyde, James; Johns, Brad; and Taylor, Michael, Scott.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Implantable medical devices have zones of high in vivo stability that are adjacent to zones of relatively low in vivo stability, so that when these medical devices are implanted into a host, the zones of low in vivo stability degrade first and allow the formation of independent segments of relatively intact high in vivo stability bands that are sufficiently small that they may pass from the host in a non-harmful manner."

The patent application was internationally filed on Dec. 21, 2018, under International application No.PCT/US2018/067372.
