MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202514001512 A) filed by Evonik Oxeno Gmbh & Co. Kg, Marl, Germany, on Jan. 7, for 'two-stage process for producing tetraalkyl 1,2,3,4-butanetetracarboxylates.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a two-stage process for producing tetraalkyl 1,2,3,4-butanetetracarboxylates containing alkyl groups having 1 to 6 carbon atoms starting from tetrahydrophthalic anhydride (THPA). The process comprises the oxidation of tetrahydrophthalic anhydride (THPA) and the subsequent esterification of the resulting 1,2,3,4-butanetetracarboxylic acid with an alcohol having 1 to 6 carbon atoms."
