MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641025911 A) filed by Vel Tech Multi Tech Dr Rangarajan Dr. Sakunthala Engineering College; Dr M. Suganthy; Lokeshkumar K; Logeshwaran A; and Velan S, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on March 5, for 'uav for survelliance in multitude area with integrated thermal filtering.'

Inventor(s) include Vel Tech Multi Tech Dr Rangarajan Dr. Sakunthala Engineering College; Dr M. Suganthy; Lokeshkumar K; Logeshwaran A; and Velan S.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This work presents the design and implementation of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UA V) system for wide-area surveillance with an integrated anti-theft detection algorithm and thermal filtering capability. The UA V employs an ESP32 microcontroller as the main processing unit and an ESP32-CAM module for real-time visual data acquisition. A Neo-6M GPS module provides location tracking, enabling geotagged surveillance. The captured visual data is wirelessly transmitted to a Python based ground control dashboard, where advanced image-processing algorithms per- form thermal filtering to highlight heat-emitting regions and anti-theft detection using motion analysis and frame differencing techniques. This setup enables the UA V to autonomously identify suspicious activities or intrusions within its monitoring zone. The proposed system offers a low-cost, scalable, and portable solution for aerial surveillance applications such as border security, industrial site monitoring, and disaster management. By combining embedded loT hardware with intelligent computer vision algorithms, the UA V achieves efficient, real-time monitoring with minimal human intervention."
