MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202547096440 A) filed by Qualcomm Incorporated, San Diego, on Oct. 7, for 'ue-controlled ris and authorization key for in-coverage ue.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) and related apparatus are provided. In the method, the UE transmits, to a network entity, an authorization request for controlling a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS), and receives, from the network entity, an authorization configuration for controlling the RIS. The UE further transmits, to the RIS, authorization information based on the authorization configuration, and transmits, in response to the authorization information being validated by the RIS, a control signal to the RIS for controlling the RIS. The method improves the efficiency and security of UE controlling RIS, while avoiding control collisions when multiple UEs attempt to control the same RIS."
