MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411004733 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 23, 2024, for 'umbrella holding device.'
Inventor(s) include Sukhpreet Singh.
The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An umbrella holding device, comprises of a cuboidal hollow body 1 positioned on a ground surface configured with multiple plates 2 carved with a hole is dedicated towards storage of an umbrella in a folded orientation, a laser acuity sensor to detect diameter of umbrella, a motorized iris lid 4 carved on each holes 3 to close and grip the umbrellas securely, a camera 5 to detect height of each umbrellas, a pair of motorized sliders 9 configured with plates 2 to translate plates 2 and rest ferrule portion of umbrellas in slots, a touch enabled screen 6 accessed by a user to input commands regarding requirement of umbrella, a microcontroller to determine a hole stored with selected umbrella, a fingerprint sensor 7 to verify the user and the iris lid 4 accordingly opens to allow the user to access the selected umbrella."
