MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411074601 A) filed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, on Oct. 3, 2024, for 'universal test equipment of flight data recorder for aircraft.'
Inventor(s) include Anubhav Garg; Trilok Kumar; and Amit Kumar Pandey.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Universal Test Equipment is an indigenous development used to test the overall functionality of Flight Data Recorder (109) (FDR). FDR, an airborne system is able to record the aircraft data and audio in a protected memory module. FDR acquires data in form of analog, discrete, MIL1553B (206), ARINC 429 (202), ARINC 717, Ethernet and audio via various interfaces available on aircraft. To test the different version of interface used in FDR, Universal FDR Test Equipment is used. Hence Single Universal FDR Test Equipment can be used for in-house testing during research, development and manufacturing of different version of FDR and routine/annual phase inspection of the fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft. There is no need to use different version of test equipment for testing of different version of FDR (315). The basic architecture of this test equipment is defined in below figure. This patent covers about Universal FDR Test Equipment."
