MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517072911 A) filed by Qualcomm Incorporated, San Diego, on July 31, for 'user equipment operation in mobility scenarios.'
Inventor(s) include Kulik, Victor; Han, Junsheng; Santhanam, Arvind Vardarajan; Mcgloin, Justin; Kulkarni, Rashmi; Wang, Shanshan; and Lotfallah, Osama.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "In mobility scenarios, a user equipment (UE) may enter an airplane mod in which the UE has limited or no connectivity to a network. Cell selection latency after terminating the airplane mode may result in a delay in providing network or communication services. Some aspects described herein enable a reduction in latency associated with cell selection after operation in a mobility scenario. For example, a UE may determine that the UE is operating in a mobility scenario, and perform a receive-only cell selection procedure. Additionally, or alternatively, the UE may predict a destination associated with the mobility scenario and may identify a band list for performing a cell selection procedure. In this way, when the UE exits the mobility scenario, the UE reduces a time to successfully complete cell selection."
The patent application was internationally filed on Feb. 15, 2024, under International application No.PCT/US2024/016028.
