MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531011930 A) filed by Siksha O Anusandhan, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, on Feb. 12, for 'user transfer assistive device for wheelchair.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A user transfer assistive device for wheelchair, comprising a curved base 101 having multiple telescopic rods 102 attached underneath base 101, ends of rods 102 provided with motorized omnidirectional wheels 103 for a locomotion of base 101, two sliding units 104 installed parallelly along oppositely located edges of base 101, a rectangular plate 105 is attached with sliding units 104 for enabling sliding of plate 105 along length of base 101, two L-shaped robotic grippers 106 clamps a wheelchair to align base 101 with wheelchair, multiple hydraulic pushers 107 having suction cups 108 at the ends for stabilizing base 101 on a surface, a rectangular flap 109 provides backrest to user, flap 109 configured with a drawer mechanism for getting adjusted as per height of user, an imaging unit 110, determine position and dimensions of wheelchair."
