MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611023739 A) filed by Vivekananda Institute Of Professional Studies - Technical Campus, New Delhi, on Feb. 27, for 'vehicle door safety and controlled-exit assistance system.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A vehicle door safety and controlled-exit assistance system, comprising of a mechanical door-restraint unit 101 to physically regulate door opening, multiple AI-enabled vision units 105 to capture real-time environmental data corresponding to a door-opening zone and to perform localized object detection and classification, an infrared sensing unit 106 generates thermal maps for detecting pedestrian presence, crowd density, and proximity within unsafe radius, a distance and motion sensing unit detects proximity, relative velocity, and direction of approaching vehicles, pedestrians, and obstacles, a verification module integrated with an interior door handle 107 to analyse force applied by occupant to distinguish intentional door-opening actions, an occupant monitoring unit analyse facial cues, posture, and eye behaviour to detect abnormal occupant conditions, an analysis module performs multi-sensor fusion to determine safe exit conditions and selectively actuates the mechanical door-restraint unit 101."
