MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511132549 A) filed by Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Dec. 27, 2025, for 'vehicle safety system for driver impairment detection and pre-collision impact mitigation.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Karunesh Srivastava; Inkesh Maurya; Mohd Azim Siddiqui; Ishu Chaudhry; and Kaustubh Shukla.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a vehicle safety system comprising a driver-condition sensing assembly including an eye-condition sensor and an alcohol sensing unit, an external-object sensing assembly, an impact sensing assembly, a braking actuation interface, a deployable energy-absorbing bumper assembly, and a controller operatively coupled thereto. The controller receives and analyzes eye-closure data and alcohol-condition data to determine a driver impairment condition and receives and analyzes proximity data to determine a collision-risk condition. Upon determination of at least one selected from the driver impairment condition and the collision-risk condition, braking force is applied through the braking actuation interface. Further, the deployable energy-absorbing bumper assembly is moved from a retracted position toward an extended position prior to collision occurrence to mitigate impact forces."
