MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202514032734 A) filed by Suzuki Motor Corporation, Shizuoka, Japan, on April 2, for 'vehicle side structure.'

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "[Problem to be Solved] To secure rigidity against a load caused at the time of collision at a pillar portion provided with a retractor and a guide member of a seat belt device. [Solution] A pillar portion 1 of a vehicle side structure is provided with an opening portion 11 extending in an up-down direction, and a retractor 25 is stored inside the opening portion 11. The vehicle side structure includes a lower fixation member 13 expanding on one side out of an inner side and an outer side from the pillar portion 1 located below the opening portion 11 with a lower portion of the retractor 25 fixed to the lower fixation member 13, and an upper fixation member 15 expanding on the other side that differs from the one side from the pillar portion 1 located above the opening portion 11 with an upper portion of the retractor 25 fixed to the upper fixation member 15, and the lower fixation member 13 and the upper fixation member 15 are joined to the pillar portion 1 located at a periphery of the opening portion 11 in a state in which a part of the opening portion 11 is covered."
