MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541123022 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'voice-based question answering system using bert and automatic speech recognition.'

Inventor(s) include Dr Vishnu Priya Arivanantham; B Haarith Ahamed Khan; and Kishore P.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a voice-based question answering system comprising an input component configured to capture voice input from a user, an Automatic Speech Recognition module configured to convert the voice input into text, a BERT-based question answering module configured to process the text and generate responses using bidirectional transformer architecture, and an output component configured to deliver the responses to the user. The system includes an input layer with a microphone or audio device and audio preprocessing module, a processing layer containing an ASR system (Speech to Text) and Question Answering (BERT Model), and an output layer with Text to Speech (Speech Output) and User Interface (Response Display) components. The system processes voice queries through sequential data transformation from raw audio input through speech recognition and natural language processing, ultimately delivering responses in both audible and visual formats."
