MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511132583 A) filed by GLS Speciality Chemicals Private Limited, Bawal, Haryana, on Dec. 27, 2025, for 'water-based polyurethane dispersion binder for flexographic and gravure ink applications.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a water-based polyurethane dispersion (PUD) binder suitable for flexographic and gravure printing inks. The composition includes 10-40% polyol, 5-25% diisocyanate, 1-10% internal emulsifier, 0.5-20% chain extender, 1-15% neutralizing agent, 5-30% solvent, 0.001-1% catalyst, 30-70% water, and optional additives. A method for preparing the PUD is provided, involving prepolymer formation, neutralization, aqueous dispersion, and homogenization. The dispersion exhibits excellent adhesion on PET and BOPP substrates, along with favourable stability, pigment compatibility, flexibility, and chemical resistance, enabling low-VOC printing ink systems."
