MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541060959 A) filed by Alaparthi Venkateswara Rao; and Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, on June 2, for 'water fueling system and technique for internal combustion engines.'

Inventor(s) include P. Veerakumari; P. Venkata Rao; Shaik Raziya; and B. Kishore Babu.

The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A new water fueling system and method presented in this research is intended to improve internal combustion Engine (ICE) performance and efficiency while lowering hazardous emissions. In order to either directly inject water into the combustion chamber or produce hydrogen and oxygen gases for burning, the system combines water injection and water electrolysis technologies. The method lowers NOx emissions, minimizes engine banging, and increases thermal efficiency by using water as an additional fuel source. The suggested approach investigates the possibility of supplementing traditional hydrocarbon fuels with water-gas conversion techniques. Both theoretical and experimental studies show that adding water can result in better fuel economy, better combustion, and longer engine life. During the move to sustainable energy solutions, this strategy shows potential as a transitional technology for cleaner internal combustion engines."
