MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517048846 A) filed by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Gyeonggi, Republic of Korea, on May 20, for 'wearable device that adjusts light transmittance according to illuminace of external light source and control method thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Choi, Kyusik; Kim, Seungnyun; Son, Dongil; Yoon, Jongmin; Lee, Seungjoo; and Lim, Gisoo.

The application for the patent was published on June 6, under issue no. 23/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Provided is a wearable device that adjusts light transmittance according to the illuminance of an external light source. The wearable electronic device comprises at least one camera, at least one lens, and at least one processor, wherein the at least one processor may be configured to: identify illuminance information about an image acquired through the at least one camera; on the basis of the identified illuminance information, determine the location on the at least one lens, which corresponds to the illuminance information; on the basis of the illuminance information corresponding to the determined location, determine average illuminance for the image; compare the illuminance information corresponding to the determined location with the average illuminance; and on the basis of the result of the comparison, partially adjust the light transmittance of the at least one lens."

The patent application was internationally filed on Oct. 30, 2023, under International application No.PCT/KR2023/017021.
