MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511125251 A) filed by Swami Rama Himalayan University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Dec. 11, 2025, for 'wearable ornamental micro biome sampler for personal and environmental bio aerosol monitoring.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Chandra Shekhar Nautiyal; and Dr. Vivek Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a wearable ornamental microbiome sampler for personal and environmental bioaerosol monitoring. The device integrates a decorative outer shell, resembling pendants, brooches, badges, or wristbands, with a hidden internal sampling chamber that collects airborne microorganisms discreetly. Air enters the chamber through concealed inlets and is directed via engineered airflow pathways into a removable multi-layered cartridge comprising a filter membrane, an absorptive hydrogel, and an electrostatically charged pad, which immobilize and preserve microbes, including bacteria, viruses, fungal spores, and other bioaerosols. The cartridge is replaceable, traceable, and suitable for laboratory analysis to generate personalized microbial exposure profiles. Optional embedded sensors and wireless modules enable environmental context data collection. The invention provides a socially acceptable, aesthetically pleasing, portable solution for real-time individual microbial monitoring, bridging scientific utility with fashion, and enabling applications in public health, clinical support, epidemiology, and citizen science."
