MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411011085 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Feb. 16, 2024, for 'wind assisted marine propulsion system.'
Inventor(s) include Sunil Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A wind assisted marine propulsion system comprising of a V-shaped frame 1 developed to be installed on a bow portion of a boat that is sailing over a water body, a mechanical linkage 2 for enabling a concerned person to attach frame 1 with bow portion, an ultrasonic wind sensor for detecting intensity and direction of wind blowing in vicinity to boat, a motorized roller 3 for rotating on its axis to unwind a rope that results in deployment of an inflatable parachute 4, a tension sensor for detecting tension generated within rope, an air inflating unit for inflating parachute 4 to generate appropriate force to pull boat, a LiDAR sensor for detecting any crack or breakage on rope, a siren 5 alerts captain and crew member of boat for winding to pull back parachute 4, a RADAR module for detecting presence of ship/boat sailing within pre-defined area around boat."
