MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122936 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'zone-based bluetooth low energy asset tracking system.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a zone-based asset tracking system including BLE asset tags attached to assets with wireless communication capability, BLE zone servers positioned at designated zones configured to detect asset tag presence within communication range and maintain information identifying which tags are present, and a client application configured to retrieve and present asset presence information within specific zones. The zone servers automatically update information in real-time when asset tags connect or disconnect, and the client application receives immediate updates of asset location changes. Each zone server implements GATT profile communication protocol with defined service and characteristic identifiers for standardized data exchange, with information formatted as concatenated strings containing addresses of connected asset tags."
