Inventors include Dr. Kondapuram Parameshwar; Dr. Anusha Kusuma; Dr. Anil Kumar Vadaga; and Dr. Vankayala Devendiran Sundar.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a three-dimensional (3D)-printed Rizatriptan-loaded mucoadhesive buccal film and a process for preparation thereof using Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)-based 3D printing technology. The film comprises Rizatriptan or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, polyethylene glycol diacrylate (PEGDA 700), polyethylene glycol 200 (PEG 200), Polyox 10N, and a suitable photoinitiator. The preparation process comprises formulation of a photopolymerizable drug-containing mixture, computer-aided design of the buccal film, layer-by-layer fabrication using LCD-based 3D printing, followed by cleaning, post-curing, and conditioning. The films are designed with predetermined dimensions and a nominal thickness of 0.1 mm to facilitate controlled fabrication and reproducible dosage- form geometry. The proposed films are intended to provide mucoadhesion and facilitate transmucosal delivery of Rizatriptan for the management of acute migraine attacks. The invention provides a digitally controlled manufacturing approach for developing customized buccal drug delivery systems.
