MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641095046 A) filed by Dhivya Lakshmikanthan; and Sowmya Balaji on August 05, 2026, for A Bioactive Herbal Ointment Comprising Calotropis Procera Fibre Nanoparticles And Acalypha Indica Nanoemulsion For Topical Wound Management.

Inventors include Dhivya Lakshmikanthan; and Sowmya Balaji.

The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.

Abstract: A Bioactive Herbal Ointment Comprising Calotropis procera Fibre Nanoparticles and Acalypha indica Nanoemulsion for Topical Wound Management is disclosed. The invention relates to a plant-derived topical formulation comprising Calotropis procera fibre nanoparticles and a nanoemulsion containing Acalypha indica leaf extract incorporated into a semi-solid ointment base. In an exemplary embodiment, the formulation comprises approximately 8.80 g petroleum jelly, 0.35 g hard paraffin, 0.35 g soft liquid paraffin, 0.25 g Calotropis procera fibre nanoparticles and 0.25 mL Acalypha indica leaf-extract nanoemulsion. The components are combined and heated sufficiently to soften or melt the base, followed by homogenization and filling into a suitable container. The resulting formulation is substantially white, semi-solid and substantially non-water-soluble. The combined nanoparticulate and nanoemulsion botanical system is intended to provide complementary antimicrobial, antioxidant, inflammation-modulating and wound-supportive properties. The invention provides a plant-derived topical delivery platform for wound-management applications and further development through physicochemical, microbiological, toxicological and efficacy evaluation.
